Advent-Day 9

Today’s activity was clay ornaments. We used a new recipe this year and the dough was silky smooth and baked evenly and beautifully along with being quick and easy to throw together. I splashed in a little vanilla because I didn’t like the smell when I was cooking it on the stovetop and they remained very lightly scented even after they were baked, next time I may try a little peppermint extract to make them more festive.

While those baked we did some schoolwork. Today was a literature day and we read about Mt. Rushmore

He's been memorizing the presidents in order so, of course, chose to write their number as the fact about them

And George Washington

I'm going to have nightmares about this mask

And a bit about the first ladies as well.

Then Brady combined the dough from the ornaments (I gave him 1/2 of it just to play with) and the description of drawing and planning Mt. Rushmore and decided to plan and make a sculpture of his cat

Hard to see but he drew them and then wrote “blue print” “Aidan and Avery” “I love these cats”

baked, but not yet painted

Then it was time to paint our ornaments

After dinner I blew his little Dr. Seuss loving mind with “The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat” and we watched “Kung Fu Panda Holiday” and “Merry Madagascar” for good measure.

Tonight’s Christmas book was “Emily and the Snowflake” which has been pretty popular around here this year.
