Goofballs and Gorilla Gyms

This goofball, you guys. I canNOT.
Last week was Brady’s Spring Break and we had a really nice, quiet break.
We had some friends over and went to the aquarium and arcade.

and even more time to breaking in the Gorilla Gym he got as an early birthday present from us (because the box was too big to hide :-p)

I highly recommend both the Gorilla Gym playground package (and that goes double for those of you who also live in an ugly climate) and “Muppets Most Wanted” which we went to see yesterday.

Today we were back into the swing of things, though, and here’s what we did:

*Journal

*Handwriting (lowercase letter review)

*Cutting (TARDIS)

*Spelling pre-test (central ‘oa’ and ‘ow’)

*Writing (using order words)

*Lit (“Sam the Minute Man” and then we watched the Schoolhouse Rock “Shot Heard Round the World” video)

*Math (make and break numbers, expanded form)

*Vocab test (windowpane, ferryboat, downpour, peppermint, patchwork, dewdrops, bedspread, dictionary, heap, compete, bray, experiment, fabric, drone, haven’t, wouldn’t, they’ll, aren’t)

*Science (types of clouds, Brady painted them and then we watched a video for “It Looked Like Spilt Milk”)

*Music (High and low hand signs, intro and melody, “Charlie Over the Ocean,” “Simon Says,” “Ring Around the Rosie,” “Mother, Mother,”Slahal,” “Blue Danube Waltz”)

*B picked out a couple books on tape during this weeks library visit so he’s been listening to “What Mommies Do Best/What Daddies Do Best” and “JamBerry” a lot.

*He also read “If You Take a Mouse to the Movies” about 5 times today (he LOVES those books and I thought we owned them all until we saw that one at the library)

When Paul got home from work we had planned to look at a 3 bdrm place about 30mins from here, but it was so obviously not a good fit when we got there that we didn’t even go in.  Since we were out, though, we went ahead and drove on to the nearest “big” town a little more than an hour away and went out to dinner and did a little bit of shopping.  Nice to get out of our rinky-dink town once in awhile.

I’ve also got this gluten-free sourdough starter going and I’ll let you know if it works. Sourdough bread may be the thing I have missed most since going gf so I’m really hoping.

And that’s what we’ve been up to. How are things in your homeschool?
